FABRIC.md -> FABRIC-0.md
FABRIC-2.md -> FABRIC-1.md
FABRIC-3.md -> FABRIC-2.md (the current/living document)
FABRIC-4.md unchanged (new #3 to follow separately)

Every cross-reference repo-wide updated to match, including doc-comment
citations inside kernel source (.c/.h) files -- done via an ordered
placeholder substitution (FABRIC-3.md->placeholder2, FABRIC-2.md->
placeholder1, FABRIC.md->placeholder0, then placeholders resolved to
final names) in a single pass per file to avoid double-shifting
already-renamed references.

One line in capsules/font.4th grew past the 64-char block-format limit
as a side effect of the longer filename; shortened it and reverified
with mkcapsule --lint (34/34 pass) before rebuilding.

Verified 3-arch boot to ok> (amd64/aarch64/riscv64, each in the
foreground) after the fix; logs and DoE CSVs from this session's
verification runs included per this repo's own audit-artifact
convention.

docs/working/ — Living Documentation

Source material for the formal documentation tier. Design notes, DoE logs, architecture decisions, experiment reports, draft specs — everything not yet promoted to docs/formal/. See docs/CLAUDE.md for the two-tier model.

Layout

`architecture/`	System design: physics engine, HAL, heartbeat, pipelining, word-ACL, adaptive systems, getting-started, plus dated design/finding notes for Artemis, Hermes, and the K-PUSH dictionary-shadowing bug. (`03-architecture/`, `getting-started/`, `heartbeat_csv_export.md`)
`experiments/`	DoE designs and run data. (`02-experiments/`, `campaigns/` = former top-level `experiments/`, including the `l8_attractor_map`, `l8_validation`, `doe_2x7`, `shape_validation`, and `window_scaling` campaigns)
`specifications/`	Protocol/format specs — currently `HOLA_PROTOCOL.adoc`.

`archive/`	Historical / superseded / obsolete records: quality audits, operations, research drafts, session logs, the former `docs/archive/` tree (`legacy/`), artifacts.

Phase 2 reorganization notes (2026-06-16)

Moves used git mv (history preserved). Each moved .md/.adoc/.tex file carries a one-line provenance header noting its original path.
Reorg used directory-level consolidation rather than splitting every mixed-tag directory file-by-file, to keep companion data (logs, CSVs, randomization matrices) with the reports they belong to. Per-file status tags remain authoritative in docs/INDEX.md.
docs/src/ landed under scratch/src/ as a holding area — it is mixed developer reference that still needs semantic re-filing into architecture/, hardware/, and specifications/.
Repo-root convention files (README.md, ROADMAP.md, ONTOLOGY.md, CONTRIBUTING.md, CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md, NOTICE.md) and the docs landing files (docs/CLAUDE.md, docs/INDEX.md, docs/README.md) were left in place.
DELETE candidates: see docs/DELETE-CANDIDATES.md (nothing deleted).
